Shooting Star
“Oniichan… why are you wearing your glasses today?” Takeru looked at Shu with curious eyes.
“You don’t
have any eye problems, right?” He continued staring at his brother.
They suddenly
stopped walking and Shu stared back at Takeru for a long time and then swiftly
leaned forward to his little brother.
“Hey brats! Stop that and let’s keep on walking. We’re
already near your store.” I said as I pinched their ears.
“OUCH! Hai! Hai!” They both protested.
Their mother
was waiting outside the store as we approached it. “Okaeri!”
“Tadaima!” Shu and Takeru said at the same time.
“Takeru-chan, put your things inside our store. Shu…
Come here and bring this with you inside.” Their mother said as he walked inside
their store. “Here. I made Tricia-chan her favorite sushi.”
“Arigatou okaasan!” Shu kissed and hugged her.
“Arigatou gozaimasu auntie! This is oishi for sure. Arigatou!”
“Let’s go Tricia.” Shu held my hand.
“Takeru-chan, Shu and I will take our leave now.”
I called Takeru and waved goodbye.
“Jaane okaasan, Takeru. Ittekimasu!”
Shu said.
“Itterashai!”

We started walking
and headed to the place we always go. It is just a twenty-minute walk from
their store. Shu never let go of my hand until we got there. We placed our
picnic blanket under a Sakura tree and sat down.
“I wonder what mom prepared for us.”
Shu opened the picnic basket and got what was inside.
“Sushi~!” I shrieked.
“Come on. Let’s eat!”
“Itadakimasu!” Shu picked a sushi. “Here.
Eat this.” He smiled.
“Hai.” I held his hand as he placed the food
inside my mouth. “Oishi!”
We ate for
less than an hour. It was nearly dark when we finished and then we fixed some
of our things and lied down.

When the night came, we watched the stars as they started
to cover up the velvet sky. “Kirei.” I whispered.
We kept
silent for a moment.
“Hey! Look at that!” Shu suddenly sat down. “It’s
a shooting star, right?”
“Eh? Where?!” I immediately sat down. “Let’s
make a wish,”
“I don’t want to wish. I want to hope. ”
Shu suddenly became serious and looked at me. “I hope to have you till eternity, Tricia. I
hope that our love would last until forever meet its end.”
His words
clouded up my mind. I was speechless. My heart seemed like it skipped a beat and
I felt blush crept to my face. All that I was able to do was smile at him. He
slowly leaned forward and kissed my forehead. We continued watching the stars
as I rested my head on his chest with his arms around me.
“Till the end of forever.” I whispered and then I closed my eyes.
